Sarah Hoskins was born in Kent and grew up in the South West of England. In 1996 she graduated from Wimbledon School of Art, then completed a Post Graduate diploma at the Cyprus College of Art in 2002. Since then she has exhibited widely throughout the UK, and internationally. In 2010 she returned to Cyprus as a resident artist at the Cyprus College of Art, and was their Head of Foundation until December 2012. Sarah is now living and working in the south west of the UK, on the edge of Dartmoor.
In Sarah Hoskins’ abstract work there is an often complex interplay between colours, curves, angles, scale, orientation, and spatial push and pull.
“My process involves risk and unpredictability. It’s like a game with limited moves where each component asserts an identity. A crucial point comes when the picture seems impossibly disparate and chaotic, from then on my task is to solve it like a puzzle.
The satisfaction is bringing it all together; finding relationships that create a whole.”
